In a big blow amidst the ongoing war against gangsters, Amritsar Police solved a blind case of firing with the arrest of two gangsters after an encounter in the Sultanwind area of Amritsar.
One Pistol 9MM Glock with 04 live cartridges of 9MM and One Pistol .32 Bore along with 4 Live Cartridges of .32 Bore and Empty Shells have been recovered.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar has identified the arrested Gangsters as Resham Singh alias Bau a resident of Village Chabhal, Tarn Taran and Gurwinder Singh alias Guri, a resident of Village Bugga, Tarn Taran.
Both Shooters were wanted in case FIR no. 167 dated 19/10/2024 U/s 125, 3(5), 324(4), BNS, 25, 27/54/59 Arms Act, PS: A-Division, Amritsar Commissionerate in which 6-8 rounds were fired on the gate of the house of complainant Jasdeep Singh alias Sajan, resident of Sunder Nagar, Amritsar.
CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that following reliable inputs that wanted shooters Resham Singh alias Bau and Gurwinder Singh alias Guri have spotted in the area of Sultanwind, Amritsar near Diamond Avenue, police teams of CIA Staff and PS Rambagh under the overall supervision of DCP City Abhimanyu Rana, IPS, DCP Investigation Harpreet Singh Mandher, ADCP Special Branch Harpal Singh Randhawa and ACP East Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu reached the spot, during which accused Resham Singh alias Bau and Gurwinder Singh fired gunshots towards police teams and tried to flee from the spot.
In retaliate firing by police team one Gurwinder Singh alias Guri got injured by gunshot, who was later admitted in Hospital and Resham Singh alias Bau was arrested.
Both accused Resham Singh alias Bau and Gurwinder Singh have criminal history as well i.e. cases under Arms Act and robberies.
CP Bhullar said that further investigations are being conducted to probe the backward linkages and identify the nexus of arrested Gangsters.
A FIR No. 136 dated 24/10/2024 U/s 109, 3(5), 132, 324 (4), 221 BNS, 25, 27/54/59 Arms Act in PS: Sultanwind has been registered in this regard.
